We convened at Jimmy B'z, a couple of blocks from John
O'Donnell Stadium, around noon on April 26. It was a
bright, sunny day. In all, sixteen people attended,
including four members from Minnesota and one from
Illinois.

The highlights:

* Tim Rask gave a short presentation on the life of
Davenport's John O'Donnell Stadium since its
construction in 1931, and a brief forecast of the
proposed remodeling to this classic park. Ralph
Christian shared the Site Inventory on file for
O'Donnell Stadium with the State Historical Society,
and updated us on that organization's list of
sports-related historical sites.

* Steve Bennett shared the details of his major-league
baseball Relegation proposal.

* Jeff Ruetsche of Arcadia Publishing in Chicago spoke
about Arcadia's "Images of Baseball" series and his
search for authors for this series.

* Jim Hekel of Dyersville updated us on the
arrangements for the Dyersville meeting on August 31
(not August 8, as was erroneously reported earlier.
We will start at the Dyersville Library at 9:00 am
that day, then line up our cars (headlights on, of
course) to go to the Field of Dreams itself, in time
for the emergence of the Ghost Players from the
cornfield at noon. Anyone in the vicinity of
northeastern Iowa is invited to attend.

* The unnecessarily brutal Trivia Quiz was won by
visiting dignitary Stew Thornley, with Steve Bennett
taking runner-up honors.

* We then adjourned to O'Donnell Stadium, enjoyed the
sun and the riverfront view, and watched the Quad
Cities River Bandits triumph over Dayton, 6-5. After
losing a 5-1 lead, the Bandits pushed across the
game-winner in the bottom of the ninth.

* Handouts from this meeting are en route to Len Levin
for inclusion in the SABR Reference Library.

* Details of our upcoming Dyersville meeting, as they
become available, will appear on our website:
